On the same day, via Neurona Digital and Fernando Barbella , I received this study from a company in Venezuela, Digital Trends on Internet numbers in Latin America.Despite not being Brazil in the study there are several interesting numbers:internet statistics latin america
MAIN STATUS
+85,000,000 users
6 weekly average days connected
8 average weekly hours connected (Puerto Rico ceiling 11.5, Peru floor 5.3)
2.7 email accounts per average person (Gmail reaches 30% already and in Chile 48.9%!).
3% produce content.
84.3% prefer Google and 8.4% prefer Yahoo as search engine.
61.8% remember online advertising, 48.7% click on banners and the average CTR is 1.2% average (seems a bit high to me).
advertising recall on the internet
7 MORE STATS:
30% bought in the last year on the Internet an average of 5.2 purchases.
32.6% of nonbuyers do not buy because they do not have a credit card and it is the main reason for distrust.Delivery, payment method, shipping cost and product quality are the main barriers of mistrust for those who are already online buyers.46.1% already use a camera on their cell phone, 23.2% use mp3 on their cell phone. Mexico is ahead. 16.1% navigate from the cell phone. 48.9% say they have downloaded and paid for some content for their cell phone.80% read blogs and 34.6% do so once a week. Entertainment, Technology and Business the most read topics.39% belong to some leading social network, Hi5 (you can publish on HI5 through Direcatclick :)), Myspace and MSN.
(Orkut does not play because Brazil was left out of the study, strange that Terra Fotolog and Fotolog.net do not appear).19.4% have a laptop. The advertising chapter is the one that I personally found most interesting and the graph shows how people remember more the advertisements of direct response and full internet advertisers (auctions, dating sites, casinos) and in less proportion the traditional industries (Telephony, Cars, Banks and Travel continue to lead with their investments and it shows in the memory). If you want it complete, you can download the study here.

A few weeks ago, my colleague from .FOX Mexico , Engel Fonseca , invited me to join Neurona Digital , a social network created under the Ning platform .
About Digital Neuron
This is a private social site to consolidate the internet community of Latin America & Mexico. The idea is to know the most relevant of the industry & share it. It is a space for PR, post vacancies & locate business opportunities. The social network of the Latam Online Advertising Industry.Today it already has more than 80 members and Engel has been in charge of leaving some questions to debate about topics related to digital marketing and uploading very interesting presentations to share with its members.
I never used Ning , the social network of the founder of Netscape , this is the first time and I found a platform very easy to use and very flexible. The idea that anyone can build their social network is to take this concept to the maximum and take advantage of sneezers to grow the network. Ning reached 100,000 social networks created two weeks ago.We already had several social networks but at a work level I think it’s worth subscribing .

Google keeps breaking records!0Comments , Posted in Digital Marketing , Search Engine Optimization (SEO) , Google , inZearch Shake me del.icio.us
A few weeks ago it had been believed that the value of Google’s shares would not rise any more, that they had reached their ceiling…….but Google continues to surprise, breaking records, exceeding USD 600 , a share that has multiplied its value 7 times since listing on the stock market in 2004
Google Grow
A little exercise shows that if we had invested $10,000 in August 2004, by the time Google started trading at $85 today, October 8, 2007, we would have (if we sold ) $ 70,600 . lares (a profit of 605% in just over three years) Google ‘s share price increased 30 % in 2007, supported by its success in Internet advertising, a sector in full development in which Google holds about 32% of the world market thanks to its sophisticated placement system . automatic advertising of advertisements, on topics related to each search .
Google is the world leader in internet advertising and the most used search engine in the world , with 500 million monthly users worldwide, a proportion of three out of four Internet users. In the United States, its share of the Internet search market reached 56.5 % in August 2007, against 23.3% for rival Yahoo! and 11.3% for Microsoft’s MSN, according to figures from the Comscore cabinet. The internet advertising market is expected to grow by around 20% in 2007 worldwide, according to several experts , less than the 30% annual growth recorded in recent years .
What financial analysts recommend : according to them, Google is expected to continue growing and therefore the value of its shares will reach USD 700, this growth is expected as a consequence of the growth of advertising sales from advertising in videos, radios and mobile marketing in the coming months.
